The sixty seconds that decide the outcome
Before any TRX or USDT TRC20 transfer, do four things in order. Confirm the network the recipient expects, since TRC20 and ERC20 addresses are not interchangeable. Confirm the destination through a channel the recipient did not supply. Run the blacklist lookup on the exact string you are about to paste into the wallet. Then send a small test and wait for confirmation before releasing the balance. TRON blocks settle in roughly three seconds and nothing about a confirmed transfer can be undone, so all of your leverage exists before you press send. The routine costs a minute and is the only part of the process you fully control.
Network first, address second
Most wrong-network losses start with a copied address and an assumption. A TRON mainnet address begins with T and is 34 Base58 characters, and the alphabet deliberately omits zero, capital O, capital I and lowercase l to kill ambiguity. Anything starting 0x is not a TRON wallet. Sending TRC20 USDT to an exchange deposit line issued for ERC20 usually means a support ticket, a manual recovery fee and weeks of waiting, if it is recoverable at all. Check the network label in both wallets, not just the memo of the message you were sent, and re-read it whenever an exchange rotates deposit addresses or adds new chains.
Verify the human, not the message
The destination should be confirmed through a route the other side did not choose. Log into the exchange yourself and read the deposit page rather than trusting a screenshot. Call a supplier on the number from a previous invoice, not the one in the new email. In a chat deal, ask a question only the real counterparty can answer and be suspicious of a perfect, instant reply. Any pressure to skip this step is itself the signal — genuine recipients wait sixty seconds. Business email compromise and account takeovers work precisely because the request arrives inside a thread that already looks legitimate, complete with correct names and history.
Test transfer, then the rest
For a first payment to any counterparty, send a token amount, wait for on-chain confirmation, and get the recipient to acknowledge it through your verified channel before sending the balance. On TRON the cost of that discipline is small: transfers consume bandwidth and energy, and a TRC20 transfer to an address that already holds USDT is cheaper than one that has to create the token record. Budget a little TRX for resources so the test does not fail for the wrong reason. If the counterparty resists a test transfer or invents a reason it must be one payment, you have learned something more valuable than any lookup result.
What the check covers, and for how long
A result describes one address at one moment. It does not follow the address if the recipient sends a corrected one an hour later, and it does not survive a copy-paste that quietly picked up a poisoned lookalike from your history. Re-run the lookup against the exact string in the confirmation screen, comparing the whole address rather than the first and last four characters. Keep the transaction hash, the chat, and the invoice together in case you need to file a report. For larger transfers, the optional deep scan adds multi-hop exposure and entity context after one wallet confirmation — network fee only, no seed phrase.

Is a test transfer worth the fee?
Almost always. A small TRC20 transfer costs a few TRX in resources; a wrong destination costs the whole amount permanently. The test also proves the recipient is watching the wallet they gave you.
I sent USDT to the wrong TRON address. What can I do?
If the address belongs to an exchange, open a ticket immediately with the transaction hash — sometimes it can be credited. If it belongs to an individual, the transfer is final and only a Tether contract-level freeze could stop it, which is rare and not something you can request casually.
